Jeff Jarrett Thinks WWE Reusing Undertaker Character Is ‘Almost A Guarantee’

Jeff Jarrett thinks that the WWE will bring The Undertaker gimmick back, but with a new performer.

The Deadman retired in 2020, with his final match being against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36. While he has considered a return to the ring at times, Mark Calloway is unlikely to step back into the ring.

Speaking on his podcast “My World with Jeff Jarrett“, Jarrett was asked about if there was a chance to see the Undertaker gimmick being re-used by another talent in the future.

Citing instances in Mexico, Jarrett was sure it would. He called it “almost a guarantee”, and said it would be “fun to write” for Triple H and his staff.

“Timing is everything, and creative is subjective. I’m talking about the whole essence of a storyline and the build right. Can you imagine the right set of circumstances where the gong goes off?

And look. Mark’s doing one-man shows now. He’s very active, with podcasts and all that. So maybe today the timing isn’t right, I dont know. But do I think its a real possibility? I think its almost a guarantee.”

“[It has worked in Mexico] to an unbelievable success. It wouldn’t be possible, in this case, without Mark’s incredible run. Same with the multiple situations and instances in Mexico. Its the nature of the beast. As a creative guy, man that would be fun to write!”

Vince McMahon Rejected Sting vs The Undertaker Match

Speaking on his Six Feet Under Podcast (via Fightful), The Undertaker revealed that Vince McMahon didn’t want to see Undertaker vs Sting, so the match never happened.

“That would have been huge box office. It just didn’t work out. He had a short run in WWE and Vince [Vince McMahon] didn’t want it. For whatever reason, I don’t know what it was. He just didn’t feel it. Everybody else was like, ‘People have been clamoring for this match for quite a few years.’ A year or two into that character change, people were already sending me artwork with the billboard or poster. It just never worked out.

“Then, when he got there, the match would have been good, but I don’t think it would have lived up to the expectations that people have for it. People always think about things in a certain sense. I think they thought in their mind of Undertaker 2007-2008 vs. Sting. It was later on than that. I can say, I was way on the backside of what I was going to do when he got there.”
